Configuration

Once installed, connecting to your shell account is as difficult as typing:

ssh -C username@sphinx.mythic-beasts.com

The -C option turns on compression. SSH traffic is accounted to your bandwidth allowance so this is a good idea. In most cases this leads to an improvement in performance. In any case, any performance hit will be minimal.

When you first connect you will see the following warning:

The authenticity of host 'sphinx.mythic-beasts.com' can't be established.
Key fingerprint is 1024 f3:d6:2f:38:13:c3:42:c2:ef:db:e9:d2:9d:a1:ff:fd.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?

This is normal. You must respond to this by typing yes (in full). You will then be prompted for your password.
