Email quick reference

Settings required to access email hosted on your Sphinx shell account.

This page gives mail settings for email hosted on our sphinx shell accounts. This includes email for any domains that you have hosted with us, as well as the username@sphinx.mythic-beasts.com address that is included with your account.

Email for your domain

Incoming

If you have a domain hosted with us, you can configure mailboxes to receive mail sent to addresses at the domain using the Customer Control Panel. The settings required to retrieve mail from such mailboxes are as follows:

Server name: sphinx.mythic-beasts.com
Port: 993 (for IMAP) or 995 (for POP3)
Connection Security: TLS (or SSL)
Username: The full email address for the mailbox
Password: As set in the control panel

Outgoing

Outgoing mail is sent using Authenticated SMTP. You can authenticate using the username and password for any mailbox for any domain hosted with us - it does not need to match the address that you are sending from. If you do not have any mailboxes, you can also use the settings described at the bottom of this page.

Server name: smtp-auth.mythic-beasts.com
Port: 587
Connection Security: TLS (or SSL)
Username: The full email address for any mailbox that you have with us
Password: The password for the mailbox

Email for your sphinx.mythic-beasts.com email address

Your Mythic Beasts shell account comes with its own email address, of the form:

username@sphinx.mythic-beasts.com

The settings for using this address are described below.
